Having Suction problems – Power Failure, whether No power or Intermittent Power – Strange Noises or a Burning Smell Coming from your Vacuum – Broken attachments or Brush roller – Excessive hair preventing moving parts from functioning properly. All these are repair services offered at Gator, as well as a lot more issues. As a Dyson Dealer with over 50 years of experience, on all Dyson models, we have seen many problems that are easily remedied by our exceptional technicians.
When servicing your Dyson Vacuum cleaner our technician will inspect your brush roller, as a roller brush may cause a massive reduction in agitation, it can break belts and wear out your motor. We clean out hair and strings out of your Dyson’s bristles, bearing, and drive gears.
We will also clean and replace your filters as dirty filters cause a reduction in airflow. A packed out filter can and will cause vacuum motors to fail so it is necessary to clean your filters often, and nearly all Dyson vacuum filters can be cleaned with water. It is important to ensure filters are completely dry before reinstalling them. All Dysons have a sponge pre-motor filter and a pleated post-motor HEPA filter, so we make sure to check both.
Additionally, we also check your power cable as one of the most common repairs on a Dyson is replacing this cable. Damage can be broken plug ends or cables are coiled and frayed. These damages are preventable and are a result of improper handling of your power cable. When unplugging your vacuum, you should not yank the cable. Instead, turn off the machine and hold the plug while removing it from the outlet. While wrapping the cable, stand at the machine that has been unplugged from the outlet, wrap cable loosely; never wrap from plug end towards machine as this will cause coiling of your power cable.
While servicing our technicians will also go through the ducting, cyclonic cones, service bearings, and clean out motors, followed by a complete test and inspection. Your Dyson Vacuum Cleaner, no matter which model, is engineered to give you many years of excellent performance. Like all machines, your Dyson will work better if serviced regularly. We recommend servicing every 1 – 2 years for pet owners, and every 2 – 4 years for light users, and annually for heavy users.

Loss of Suction – The main cause is due to blockages or dirty filters. One thing causes the blockage and then dust and dirt build-up behind it. The first step is to replace or wash your pre-filter and let it dry for at least 24 hours. If the filter is not dry you may be looking at a motor replacement. However, on some models, the filter has a seal built-in so removing the filter is enough to kill the suction.
Technical Difficulties - You may have suction problems on your wand handle, hoses, the base, or the brushes. All these areas should be checked periodically for blockage. Cleaning each area will take a little patience and skill if you are doing this by yourself. So bring in your vacuum for one of our trained and experienced technicians to have a look at the problem. Power failure - Whether you have no power or intermittent power problems, please consult one of our qualified technicians, do not attempt to do this yourself if you are not a qualified electrician.
Strange Noises - Noises coming out of your Dyson such as, whistling, grinding, ratcheting, vibrating, rattling, popping, screeching, or some other noise. Any of these noises could mean a simple thing like a blockage to a damaged motor.
Burning Smell - There may be a rubber or electrical burning smell. Whatever the smell, turn off your vacuum and unplug it. Then take it into our store for repair.
